The Difference You’re Looking For
Dermaplaning is the latest facial exfoliating treatment. This super effective treatment involves a fully-trained skin care expert using a surgical scalpel to gently scrape off the dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. It’s also very effective for removing downy hair, or “peach fuzz” from your face.
Dead skin cells and fine hairs can build up on your face, dulling your complexion and making it appear flaky. If left untreated, these can also lead to spots and breakouts due to clogged pores and hair follicles. Having a regular exfoliation treatment such as dermaplaning is therefore so important for maintaining a healthy glow. Removal of dead skin will also mean that your skin care products will be more effective as they can penetrate the skin more quickly, whilst your makeup will go on more smoothly without all the tiny hairs on your face in the way.
Is dermaplaning suitable for all skin types?
Dermaplaning is suitable for most skin types, even those with sun damage, fine lines or very dry skin and dull skin. It is not recommended however if you have an inflamed skin condition, such as active acne. Dermaplaning can however be used to reduce the appearance of acne scars once your skin has healed.
Will dermaplaning make my facial hair grow back thicker?
No, dermaplaning will not make your hair grow back any thicker or darker. Although it may seem initially to appear a bit thicker, this is because the end of each hair has been cut by the scalpel, rather than tapering off. In fact it will be the same texture and thickness as before and will grow at the same speed.
Are there any side-effects of dermaplaning?
There’s no downtime after dermaplaning, but some slight redness can sometimes occur. You could have the treatment carried out during your lunch break if you wish.
What after-care will be required following a dermaplaning treatment?
As with many skin care treatments, you will need to wear a high SPF afterwards to protect your skin from the sun as it will be especially sensitive to UV damage.
How long with the effects of dermaplaning last?
The results can last up to four weeks, so your glow will last all month long. We recommend monthly treatments to maintain the results.
